Delhi Metro to connect Major Markets of South Delhi

Delhi Metro's phase III, the work for which would kick off next month, would bring cheers to the shoppers of south delhi.
DMRC plans to open the phase by 2016, and then Delhi residents would have a seamless connectivity to South Delhi’s some of the best and most frequented shopping destinations.

The four major markets, namely, Lajpat Nagar, South Extention , INA and Sarojani Nagar would have dedicated metro stations, the INA and Lajpat Nagar Stations will be converted into interchange stations enhancing the connectivity of these markets.

"This will also provide a great boost to the market of South Delhi as the DMRC's plan of constructing Metro stations at Sarojini Nagar, INA, South Extension and Lajpat Nagar with inter-station distances ranging from less than a kilometre to approximately one-and-half km will provide a great impetus to business improvements in the area," said a spokesperson for the DMRC.

This chain of four consecutive Metro stations will come up on arterial Ring Road and more than two lakh passengers will use these stations to reach these markets of south delhi which specialise in selling clothes, shoes, fashion accessories and a range of other products.
